The Gathering Storm Review

Being new to Star Wars TV series can either be an up or a down and The Gathering Storm was the first proper episode I watched as I was invested to see how Boba Fett and Fennec Shand met.

You don’t have to create a Romance between a female and male pair and Temuara Morrison and Ming-Na Wen show it’s possible. Especially, when we see two different mercenaries with the same agenda meet.

I have watched this episode a lot in 2022. I guess there is an appeal & these two characters have a lot more in common. Both were left for dead and tired of their former partners idiocy.

The flashback to their first meeting are relevant as you can see the reason Boba hired Fennec. It’s because she is worth more as an ally than bounty and Boba chose right as if he didn’t save her, he wouldn’t have got his Firespray Gun ship for Jabba the Hutt’s Palace and they wouldn’t have helped contribute to Grogu’s rescue in The Mandalorian.

The flashback basically goes from Fennec paying her debt to sticking around to be recruited by Boba because of her skills. I love it because you can see the trust Boba has in Fennec after her actions.

I love the poignant discussions between Boba and Fennec as I can see the interest Fennec has in Boba wanting to move away from Hunting.

Fennec says, “People like us don’t decide when we’re finished,” really is a poignant piece of dialogue as it show is Boba isn’t finished with criminal world and neither is Fennec.

At the end, Biba and Fennec have an important meeting with the families of Mos Espa on how to deal with Pyke Syndicate. I love how they are with the families and they mean business on knowing how Bis Fortuna messed them around. They are repercussions on both sides in Iater episodes.

This is definitely the episode of the series and it’s just a good tale.

Score: 10/10
