Strictly Come Dancing
Strictly had a number of first from Rose Ayling Ellis being the first deaf competitor on the show paired with a Giovanni Pernice to first male couple on the show with John Waite and Johannes Radabe.
Both of them had some amazing performances.
John got the the highest score in Week 3 whilst Rose not only got the earliest 40 in Week 6;for her Tango, she and Giovanni danced to no music for a few second in Week 8 to show the viewers what it was like in her world and it was a success. She repated it in the final and managed to score the perfect 40. Rose would become the first deaf person to win the competition in Giovanni‘s 4th final.
My favourite was Rhys Stephenson and Nancy Xu competing on her first series in 3 years. Rhys proudly danced to Spidermen Into The Spiderverse to share that fact there is representation out their and scored the first 10 of the series. Week 8, he topped the leaderboard with a fantastic Charleston.
Aj Odudu and Kai Widdrington are also a couple to watch. My Favourite Moment of there’s is there Quickstep where they scored maximum points in the Semi Final and this is special as they had bounce back from the dance-off a week earlier. Unfortunately, an injury pulled them out from the final but they are still finalists and it’s huge achievement for Kai to make a final on his first year too.
Doctor Who
Jodie Whittaker has been unbeatable in Doctor Who & that’s down to her high scoring episode wise. She is very talented made feel her performance is definitely world class.
Also shine was constar and long serving companion Mandip Gill who came back stringer after being overshadowed by her costar’s and that’s what was needed for Yaz.
Junior Eurovision
Sona Azizova was a standout with her song One Of Those Days. Problably my favourite Azeri song in Eurovision.
Ayana sadly finished last but this song remains one of my favourite songs of the year.
Don’t give up with Ballads Netherlands.
Dajte Muzika continued the top 10 stresk started by Mila Moskov in 2019 for North Macedonia.
Plus, I go into new shows throughout the year…
Loki
Obsessed with Tom Hiddlestom here. I definitely enjoyed this version of Loki and his chemistry with Sophia D Martino aka Sylvie.
What We Do In The Shadows
I decided to give this series a try and the leads are fantasti. From Nandor to Guillermo, they all have a stand out star. My favourite is Natasia Demitrou’s Nadja. Nadja being the only female kind of fits my insecurities and having to hear what she out up with makes her a great character.
BINGE WATCH: Schitt’s Creek
I binged watched the adventures of the Rose family for a few weeks and this is a good series with one of the best quartets in comedy. Plus, positive LGTBQ which is a good thing.
FINALLY….
Artistic Gymnastics
This years gymnastics action had stars like Jessica Gadirova, Jutta Verkest, Carolann Heduit, Angelina Melnikova, Sunisa Lee and Rebeca Andrade.
Jessica had been under her sister’s radar in 2019 but in 2021, things changed when Jessica left with a medal of Each colour at the European Championship, including surprise Gold on Floor.
Jutta’s floor routine is a masterpiece
Angelina has been improving through her years as a senior and this year, she was shining even brighter. Plus, ending the US dominance twice, once as a team and her on her own which is a huge achievement.
Sunisa came back from injury to take the All Around title at the Olympics with a clean competitio. Laster on, she finished 5th on Dancing with the Stars with Sasha Farber, including a perfect 40 for her Samba in Week 8.
This is all my highlights from 2021.
